Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), on September 19, held a bilateral meeting with Woldu Yemessel Baraki, Director General of the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Administration (EIPA) who came to China to attend the 12th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference, having profound discussions on patent examination and staff training.
Shen said that the Chinese government has been attaching great importance to IP protection and President Xi Jinping has given a series of related important instructions. Since the establishment of official bilateral cooperation relations in 2011, the CNIPA and EIPA have been developing a series of effective cooperation. Ethiopia was officially invited to join BRICS this year, which has expanded the space for our IP cooperation. The two sides are expected to continue deepening cooperation under the bilateral, BRICS and multilateral frameworks, harvest more fruits and boost the development of IP systems in our two countries together.
Baraki highly appreciated China's achievements in IP field. He affirmed that joining the BRICS mechanism has provided important opportunities for Ethiopia to boost economic and social development. He looked forward to continuing enhancing communication and dialogue with the CNIPA, sharing experiences and practices and promoting pragmatic cooperation in multiple areas.
